The Buckingham Palace - www.royal.gov.uk
Buckingham Palace Road, Tube: Victoria or Green Park.
The London home of the present Royal Family was build in the early 1700s, but was substantially altered by John Nash in the 18th century and did not become a grand state palace until Queen Victoria's reign. The palace is open to the public during August and September. The Changing of the Queen's Guard ceremony takes place in the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11:30am every day in the summer and every other day in the winter.

Once a palace and home to the king and his court, this has been the site of the two Houses of Parliament - the Lords and the Commons since 1265. This striking neo-Gothic building replaced the original which burned down in 1834. HMS Belfast is the largest surviving example of Britain's twentieth century naval power and is now a museum moored on the Thames between Tower and London Bridge. She was the first ship to be saved for the nation since Nelson's HMS Victory due to her historical importance.

This prestigious historical landmark has been a fortress, a prison, a treasury and a palace since the 11th century. Attractions include the Bloody Tower, Traitors' Gate, the Chapel of St John, the 'Beefeaters', the Jewel House with Crown Jewels and the White Tower. Entrance to the Fusilier's Museum is free.

This, the fourth cathedral to be built on the site, was designed by Wren after its predecessor was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666. It has become a symbol of national endurance, particularly since World War II when it survived bombing all around. Superb baroque interior and many attractions including the Whispering Gallery, the Stone Gallery and the Golden Gallery with amazing views over London.

This magnificent 18th century building is a thriving cultural centre for
London and is home to the magnificent collections of the Courtauld Institute
Gallery, Gilbert Collection and Hermitage Rooms. Somerset House provides an
exciting year-round programme of events for visitors of all ages.
At the heart of Somerset House lies the Courtyard. At its centre, the
orchestrated water jets of the Edmond J Safra Fountain Court spring from the
granite flagstones - illuminated at night to create a contemporary
centre-piece in a neo-classical setting.
Open daily from 10.00am to 11.00pm, there are regular displays, subject to
weather conditions, except during the winter months when the fountains are
switched off.
